ACTIVISTS BREAK ALL WINDOWS AT SCHLUMBERGER’S CAMBRIDGE FOSSIL FUEL RESEARCH CENTRE

10th October, Cambridge UK

via: This is Not a Drill.

“In the last few hours, climate activists broke all the front windows of Schlumberger’s fossil fuel research centre located on the University of Cambridge’s West Site. Reporting their actions to the direct action website This Is Not a Drill this morning, the activists said they did this in reaction to the news that over a third of Pakistan had been flooded due to climate change caused by oil and gas extraction. They targeted Schlumberger because it’s the world’s biggest fossil fuel services company and the largest provider of oil and gas technology to fossil fuel companies in the world. The research centre targeted is of strategic importance as it’s one of just five the company has around the world.

One participant, who did not give their name, said: “Schlumberger is the home of oil and gas in Cambridge. They’re the biggest offshore drilling company in the world and do untold harm to us. They have 36,000 fossil fuel technology patents, work with every single major oil company, and have a test oil drill in their Cambridge research centre connected to huge tanks of mud to simulate drilling the seabed. Their well-paid scientists and engineers could absolutely find jobs in renewables or other positive sectors if they wanted to, but it seems they just don’t care that their work kills people or that their employer steals and destroys land and water from indigenous people. The company is evil. They have to go.”

Another anonymous activist said: “We’re so tired from the anger and despair we feel towards the University of Cambridge, our government, and other institutions that are supposed to be doing good but constantly and by default do the opposite. They pay for, host, and promote these awful companies who murder our friends in the Global South and destroy the planet simply to make money. We’re tired of trying again and again to make positive change in a system designed to ignore us while rich companies, insulated for now from the carnage, laugh at our suffering. We’re done blocking roads and we’re done chanting. We’ve come to disarm fossil fuel companies wherever we find them and we call anyone else who can’t stand the death and indifference any longer to join us. Pick your target – there are plenty in Cambridge and thousands more around the UK. Together, decentralised, we can dismantle the fossil fuel empire that cares more about its executives’ private jets than it does about our lives.”

SOLIDARITY!

TO WAKA, WE MISS YOU AND WE KEEP FIGHTING.

It’s been four whole years since ISIS took your life in Rojava. It’s a strange feeling, to remember you. It still hurts, but my emotions about your murder have now become those of inspiration and defiance a lot more than of hurt and sorrow. You are missed, and I often catch myself wondering what you’d think about a situation, or what you’d suggest doing to further a campaign, but it feels like you are someone to seek inspiration from more than a deep pool of sadness.

I do wish you’d been here this year. So many inspiring projects, and so many people fighting. I’m sure we would’ve had one or two very heated arguments about the efficacy of people dressed up as rabbits in the T&S campaign. I am sure you’d have brought to the table a lot more ideas to further the struggle.

I sometimes think about the true meaning of şehid namirin. Not in the political sense of the Kurdish people, but in a very personal sense. You, like Anna, never actually died because you keep inspiring every step of the way. When I was told you were gone I felt the need to walk faster, to push faster, to fight further. And since then, in every step I have done, every campaign I have joined, I have drawn inspiration from you.

So here we are, four years later, and I can only hope that it is not just me that remembers you with love and rage. I can only hope that many others feel as inspired by you as I do to fight against fascism, to fight for the planet we live on, and to fight for all the animals that inhabit the earth. I sure will keep fighting, in raging memory.

To all who remember Waka, and to all who know that Waka deserves remembrance, make this weekend one loud party of disobedience and insurrection. As a true believer in diversity of tactics, Waka would have appreciated any form of action. Go wild.

Warm and deep love to all our forest friends wherever you are, whatever you’re up to.

Fuck cops. Fuck Daesh. Fuck Erdogan. Fuck coal. Fuck the hunt.

We howl to the moon tonight.

Anarchy or death.

THE FIGHT MUST GO ON.

“LET’S OPEN THE HUTCHES OF THE WORLD!

Small hutches or large camps, a stolen freedom is a stolen life. No matter the size of the concentration camp, imprisonment is an abomination, we have the duty to open them all! Before their programmed murder… Let’s free the mothers and their babies and prevent the criminals from giving birth to millions of fattening slaves!

How magical it is to see you discovering grass… How magical it is to see you cavorting in the freedom of nature… Nature… Your home…

No more fences, no more sham! Let’s open the cages to stop the carnage!
Let every animalist open a camp, let every animalist open the cages of hell to hope for Justice in this prison world…

Sisters and brothers, we liberate you at night so that your freedom may see the day…

Women of the world fighting for a world of peace and freedom.”

ACTIVISTS LIBERATE 24 RAINBOW TROUTS FROM A FISH FARM AND SABOTAGE THE FISH PUMP AND VACUUM.

September, Brittany France.

“WE CAME BACK FOR THE RAINBOW TROUTS

A few months ago, we went to an organic trout farm in Brittany, France. We liberated 16 animals from it in a river. We thought that this was not enough and came back there in the beginning of September.

We liberated 24 other trouts from this farm, and then we sabotaged the fish vacuum pump, a machine used to get the animals out of the water before killing them. We cut the electric cables, the pipes, and removed various parts of it. The machine might be repairable, but it will surely cost time and money to the breeders.

In our last report, some people accused us of endangering the wild animals by freeing the trouts in nature : we did not act without thinking and searching. There is no risk because of the few number of individuals released and their inability to reproduce themselves in a such environment.

However we would be pleased to see other direct actions that help the fish, so often forgotten in the antispeciesist fight.”

ANONYMOUS PEOPLE SMASH PHEASANT FEEDER

5th September, Leicestershire UK.

“While checking in on local wildlife a group of activists came across a whole heap of shotgun pellets and a pheasant feeder. That night the country was hit by fierce storms that damaged the feeder deeming it unusable!

Note wherever animals are being killed storms will continue to rage!”

ACTIVISTS BURN DOWN SIX MEAT LORRIES AND A WALK-IN FRIDGE.

19th September, Santiago, Chile.

At dawn, hooded people arrived at a butcher shop belonging to the Susaron chain, in Quilicura. Once there, they threw Molotov cocktails against their trucks and infrastructure.

The result of the action was the burning of 6 vehicles and part of the refrigerator of the animal exploitation area.

Pamphlets found in the place said: “The attack is expanding and we are growing in daring, mind and danger. Be careful, the groups of intransigent anti-species belligerence are blooming like daisies. Today we attack this company in its infrastructure, tomorrow it will be its owners and collaborators of any kind. For all of them we predict lead and shrapnel.

Animal liberation, without consideration to whoever comes across it.”
